From Our Owner

Hi my name is Lars Swenson. I am an Oregon Native, born in Medford. I have been married to my lovely wife for 10 years now and we have 3 wonderful children. I Spent my childhood exploring the woods and mountains, camping, swimming, and snowboarding. In my early teenage years I found surfing and the wild Pacific Northwest Beaches.
That's eventually where I started my college degree, here in Coos Bay at S.W.O.C.C. After finishing at this humble community college I transferred to University of Hawaii at Manoa. This is where I took various horticulture courses and plant identification. I also enrolled in a work-study program on campus which is where I first started learning my landscape experience. Mowing, grooming, pruning, and propagating plants mostly, across the whole tropical, beautiful campus of UH.

Upon returning to Coos Bay, after college, I got a job with a large landscape company in town, Lighthouse Landscape. It was there I continued my horticulture and botany experience. I worked an apprenticeship under a very experienced and knowledgeable gardener which is where I learned many of my techniques that I use in my business today.
In 2006 I thought it was time to venture out on my own and started Ocean Bay Landscape with my jeep and a mower. Eleven years down the road and I'm still growing and prosperous. Along the way I did continue my education and in 2008 completed my Master Gardener certification, through Oregon State University.
I've always believed in what is sort of my slogan, "Grown From The Ground Up, One Seed At a Time". As I started with one simple account and now have expanded but always have remained quality service family owned and operated.
